Sonyn toimitusjohtaja Sir Howard Stringer on kertonut GamesIndustry.bizille, että yritys miettii parhaillaan, kuinka paljon PlayStation 3:n hintaa on mahdollista "hienosäätää". Päätös tehdään jouluun mennessä, ja käytännössä tämä tarkoittanee, että konsolin hinta tippuu sopivasti vuoden vilkkainta sesonkia varten.
Stringer sanoo ymmärtävänsä, että laitteen hinta ei miellytä kuluttajia, mutta että toistaiseksi konsolin tarina on kuitenkin seuraillut ensimmäisen ja toisen konsolin vastaavaa myyntiprosenttien osalta. "Uskon, että PlayStation 3:n vaikeudet ratkeavat ajan myötä", hän toteaa.
PS3:n vaikeuksista kirjoitetaan Stringerin mukaan sen takia, että sellaiset jutut myyvät, mutta että konsolin hankkineet ovat kuitenkin tyytyväisiä sen tarjoamaan kokemukseen – vaikka täysi potentiaali onkin vielä hyödyntämättä.
Samassa haastattelussa Stringer ehtii myös kehaista Nintendoa: Wiin liiketoimintamalli on ollut erittäin menestyksekäs Sonyn vastaavaan verrattuna, koska se on halvempi. Luovempi tai hauskempi Wii ei kuitenkaan ole, sillä "hauskuus on kokijan silmässä", kuten Stringer muotoilee.

Team Ninja director criticises complaining PS3 devs, drops hints of more PS3 titles
Whilst speaking to website Eurogamer , director of Ninja Gaiden Sigma Yosuke Hayashi has criticized developers who complain that PS3 development is difficult, stating that "if they think it's difficult, they should get out of the ring."
When asked whether transitioning over from Xbox development was difficult, he said "There are some developers who have complained about the difficulty of developing for PS3. But, I am a creator, a developer - and by making a product, we receive money from the players. We shouldn't complain about the difficulty."
Editorial: Why Are People Still Buying HD DVD?
I’ve been struggling to understand why people are still buying HD DVD. The whole idea of choosing the HD DVD format over Blu-ray makes absolutely no sense to me. When has it been the smart thing to buy a product that has weaker technology and two, has less support behind it? It’s never been the smart thing. So what’s motivating these consumers to buy HD DVD?
The first conclusion I came to was that most are just misinformed and aren’t aware of other choices. I’ve heard countless stories of store employees outright lying by painting HD DVD out as some kind of Godsend, while bashing Blu-ray to no end and suggesting that they choose an HD DVD. Also, they might be gravitating towards HD DVD, because of the name. Seeing the “DVD” in HD DVD, gives a comfortable feeling, because we’ve all come to know and understand the “DVD” format.
The second explanation was that people are choosing other formats because they know Sony’s behind Blu-ray and don’t want to support it, even though the BDA’s (Blu-ray Disc Association) comprised of other companies besides Sony. Most sensible people aren’t stupid enough to refuse to buy a better product over a brand name, but there are obviously a few of them out there, since we’re still seeing HD DVD sell.
The ones buying HD DVD don’t understand the damage they're doing to the movie industry. By buying HD DVD, you’re doing nothing but splitting the movie industry down the middle and prolonging the inevitable and that isn’t good for anyone. Really, HD DVD buyers are being duped and filling the pockets of greedy movie studios like Warner Bros, who are trying to leech off of both the Blu-ray market and the HD DVD market. Because of you, they get to stay neutral and double dip, while we’re left angry over the fact that our favorite movie is on the other format. So, to answer the question of “Why are some people still buying HD DVD?”, it’s due to consumers being misinformed and sheer ignorance.

Parempi maksaa enemmän.
BLU-RAY VS HD-DVD sota tästä taisi tulla. Kyllähän se BLU-RAY voiton vie.
Kannattaisi ostaa suosiolla BLU-RAY soitin, koska suurella todennäköisyydellä BLU-RAY voittaa formaattisodan. Vaikka ne vähän kalliimpia ovatkin. Ja jos BLU-RAY voittaa, sitten kaikki täytyy ostaa uudestaan.
Aika hyvin sonylta mutta se hinnan alennus tatiaa tulla pikkasen liian myöhään. Jos pleikka kolmosen hinnan alennus tulisi ens kuukautena niin se olisi jo todella hyvä juttu. Mutta pelien takiahan niittä konsoleita myydään. Elikkä ps3:selle pitäs tulla killer peli joka nostattaa ps3:en myyntiä mukavasti.
